Thank the Lorde

Thank the Lorde! is a performance service created by The People’s Church of Audre Lorde that reimagines worship through Black feminist, queer, and erotic spiritual practice. Honoring Audre Lorde, the service centers praise, study, and gratitude as embodied acts rooted in the legacies of Black women and gender nonconforming femmes. Here, the object of reverence is a Black lesbian feminist doing her work, and the gathering asks each of us to reflect on our own.

Featuring performances and offerings by Jeez Loueez, Avery R. Young, Tiff Beatty, Jenn Freeman as Po’Chop, Shimmy LaRoux, and Felicia Holman, Thank the Lorde! is one site among many where we gather to praise, study, and give thanks.
