LITANY

LITANY is a dance film in five parts, manifested and performed by Po’Chop/Jenn Freeman. Produced by VAM STUDIO with support from Rebuild Foundation and The Chicago Dancemakers Forum, the work uses brown paper and imagination to construct new worlds shaped by rumbling anger and playful humor. Moving through a wooden dollhouse, grass-lined lots, and the historical pages of Ebony magazine, LITANY unfolds as collage, prayer, and exorcism. The film interrogates and releases inherited notions of Blackness, queer identity, spirituality, grace, rage, and healing through embodied ritual and visual study.
