The People’s Church of the G.H.E.T.T.O (Greatest History Ever Told To Our People) is a performance and ritual work by Po’Chop that reimagines worship through the legacies of Black women thinkers, artists, and ancestors. First presented at Blanc Gallery in Chicago in 2019, the work combines dance, ritual, poetry, and fantasy to create a space of collective remembrance, honoring figures such as Audre Lorde, Jackie Ormes, Elder Lucy Smith, and Beauty Turner. Drawing from burlesque, movement, spoken word, and participatory performance, the piece invites audiences into embodied engagement with history, spiritual inquiry, and shared presence.
